| WTB Rocket V Stealth saddle Confirmed weights? | tankhead10 May 29, 2002 3:22 AM | | I think AZ-X had posted some info a while back on this saddle. I would like to know if the advertised weights are on track (195 grams) and also if it is comparable in comfort to the WTB SST 98 Kevlar beast that I currently have on my steed. Heavy but very comfortable."Tanks alot" |
| WTB Rocket V Lazer weights.... | DIRT BOY May 29, 2002 4:24 AM | | WTB claims 210gr on this saddle. I sold one too AZ-X (217gr?)and many others.
I weighed mine at the post office it said 214gr but I think that scale is off. I weigh and ost pic today on a 6001T scale.
The most comfortable saddle I have ever used. I tried and own 12 saddles right now and this is the most comfortable.
I also have the LOWEST price on these. I am still trying to get some Stealth saddles in. |
| Hey DIRT BOY.... | tankhead10 May 29, 2002 5:23 AM | | Are you saying that the lazer weighs 210(214,217) or the stealth weighs 210(214,217)? If the lazer weighs 210(214,217) what does the Stealth weigh? Claimed is 195. I'm confused.
How much do you sell the Stealth for? Do you take paypal? Let me know. |
| penuelbicycles.com | Yakswak May 29, 2002 6:23 AM | | They have the Rocket V laser for $70, and Stealth for $75, with 15% off coupon and about $9 shipping (i know, it's high). Anyhow, about $70 shipped for the laser and ~$73 shipped for the Stealth. I think those were the best prices for the Rocket V series saddles I've seen, as they are newer and do not go on sale very often. I purchased the Laser V (not the Rocket V series) from penuelbicycles.com, and received the saddle two days later via Fedex. Here's a blurb from their "specials" page about the 15% off coupon:

| Best I can do on Rocket V Stealth is $80 shipped! | DIRT BOY May 29, 2002 12:47 PM | | They claim to be 195gr. I can't weigh then becuase I am ordering direct from WTB. |
| To Paypal or not Paypal that is the question (NM) | tankhead10 May 29, 2002 3:21 PM | | |
| Right now something is wrong with my Pay Pal account... | DIRT BOY May 29, 2002 4:58 PM | | It should be fixed by this weekend. If not you can mail me a personal check or Money Order.
I need to get at least 2-3 orders in to make it woth while.
But wil probaly still do it for you since have this awful disease we call weight wennieism!!!!!!!! |
| Very comfortable... | dreampath May 29, 2002 6:07 PM | | I recall mine weighing in the 220 range. I had a WTB SST 98 as well, and I think the Rocket V is every bit as comfortable. You won't be disappointed! |
| Great saddle, but... | fonseca May 30, 2002 12:04 AM | | ...if you are looking for a sub-200g saddle look elsewhere. B4me weighed his in at 225g, quite a difference from the original 195g claimed. I would like to see an accurrate reading of the rocket v laser, as I would think it would be more. For comfort it can't be bested. I have no problem sitting on this for 5-6 hours. Many on this forum love super light SLRs and speed needles, etc, but I cringe looking at those. I need a saddle with some meat. Fons |
| Here's the stealth on a scale... | fonseca May 30, 2002 12:08 AM | | ...posted by B4me some months back: |
| Here's the Rocket V-Laser on a scale... | AZ-X May 30, 2002 1:45 AM | | I talked to B4Me about this and we were a bit baffled. He DID get that saddle very early in its production, but it's possible that--like many other WTB items--it is just very overweight. My Rocket V laser is 1g lighter than that saddle and it is supposed to be 20g heavier according to WTB's website specs.
Just for reference on the synchronicity of the scales used, B4Me and I each weighed my newest disc wheelset seperately on our own scales and came up with the EXACT same weights to the gram--so the scales aren't off... |
| Thanks for clearing that up... | fonseca May 30, 2002 5:43 AM | | There goes WTB's whole marketing scheme for the rocket v stealth! That's fairly amusing. I still love it, because I bought it for it's shape, not weight savings, although that was a consideration as well. It's much more comfortable than my sst2k.ti, and while still firm has some give and flex, and conforms to my rear end (ahhhhh, how often do you get to say something like that eh!?!). It's a good thing I wasn't building an extremely light bike or I would be more than a little perturbed. Fons |
| SLR a very big surprise..... | tankhead10 May 30, 2002 5:21 AM | | I built up a Merlin Agilis Road bike in April. I put a new SLR on the bike. I was skeptical but read the reviews and many people raved about the comfort but the thin leather rips easy. Since I would be using this for the road I gave it a go. I just hit 1000 miles on the road bike since April and I really am amazed how much I like this saddle. I am tempted to throw this saddle on my MTB when it starts to shed it's skin. My buddy has one with 3000 miles since January and the saddle is starting to shed leather at the nose on both sides. We got ours for $59.00 through a LBS. I am disappointed to hear that the WTB Stealth is 225 grams. I don't know if I could justify $80.00 for 225 when my rather new WTB SSTK 98 weighs in at 250 with the underside fairing taken off of it. |
| The weight IS disappointing but... | AZ-X May 30, 2002 6:16 AM | | the saddle is STILL 25g lighter than the SSTK, and I can tell that it is MUCH more comfortable. It is one of the most comfortable saddles ever I've tried. It was comfortable enough for me to give up my Flite TT (and about 60g of weight!) and not go for a Speedneedle or SLR. That's saying something if you look at the rest of the parts on my bike.
I really wanted a 98g AX-Lighteness Comfortline MTB like PedalAZ's, but I could not justify the newly increased price of more than $200.00US + shipping from Europe for a saddle that might rip or get seriously damaged in my first crash... |
