| My HUGI 240 skips under power....what to do???? | RIIDER May 29, 2002 8:35 AM | | Is this an easy fix? I cant figure out how to open this thing up. Thanks for the help. |
| re: My HUGI 240 skips under power....what to do???? | BH May 29, 2002 9:09 AM | | I just repaired a Coda hub (made by Hugi) that was doing the same thing (ie. freehub wasn't locking up under torque). Hugi has an instruction set on their website that will show you how to take it apart and will give you part numbers for what you need to order. I replaced the 2 ratchets and the spring and it was good as new (and a whole lot quieter than it was before). |
| To open it up... | Metroid May 29, 2002 9:32 AM | | Just tug on the cassette. The freehub pops right off with the cassette still attached. Check all of your bearings, the star ratchets, and the springs. If you have the old version, you will only have one spring. The newer versions have a spring on both sides of the ratchets. You can contact DT Swiss for the update spring and the special freehub lube, both free of charge.

| just clean and relube ... | nino May 29, 2002 10:48 AM | | most probably there won`t be any defective parts.you just need to take the freehub apart, clean the ratchets and everything in there and relube them with a THIN oil.NO grease here as it makes the ratchets not engage...just a 5 minute job and no special tools needed! |
| absolutely yes yes! | marco righetti May 29, 2002 2:37 PM | | I have the hugi 240 hubs and i had this problem in the past, nino is definately right but i would recommend that you cleaned and relubed the insides as soon as possible because if it keeps slipping under load the teeth wear much more quickly!
I was given the proper official dt swiss grease for the rear hub and I felt it was no good it was too thick and after a period of time it went like candle wax!
I use finish line wet chain lube and there is no problems!
just make sure that the metal cover at the end of the cassette where the skewer goes through is pushed home fully and that everything is pushed home fully or else it will keep slipping! |
