| SENSATION! COMP S LIGHT USEABLE AS TUBELESS-TIRE!!!!!!! | Max Aug 9, 2002 10:37 AM | | and u need no liquid or something like that!!!!!!!!!!! i got my new michelins comp s light 2.00 today. both weighted 460g, after cutting off hundreds of these "nipples" on the knobs, they weighted 450g each.
I usually ride stan´s old kit and schwalbe rimstrips over the sealing strips so the inflation is easier. i mounted the first tire on my sealed mavic 317 and after inflating the tire with a compressor the tire was filled. surprisingly, the tire pressure is still at the same level after 3 hours!!!!! couldn´t believe it and mounted the second one on my mavic crossroc disc wheel. pfffffffffffffffft, and the tire snapped into the rim. this one still holds air too!!!!
next sensation: @ 450g the comp s is very big. width: 52,5 mm!!!!!!!! that´s bigger than the python is!
the sidewalls are pretty resistant to flats too, i suppose, because they are not nearly as skinny as the conti SS are, i.e.
the only slight problem is the loose fit. i had to pull the bead towards the sidewalls of the rim, but then it was really easy to inflate the tire with my compressor.
450 g and 52,5 mm wide is not bad for a tire you can run tubeless without any sealing......... |
| EVERY tire does that... | nino Aug 9, 2002 10:08 PM | | when using the ECLIPSE-Rimstrip from the ECLIPSE-Tubelesskit you are able to inflate nearly EVERY tire without any sealing liquid even with a regular floorpump.the ECLIPSE rimstrip makes for a perfect, already sealed fit of tires on the rims. sure most tires won`t hold air for long time but depending on the model some tires still kept 2 bars /ca. 30 psi overnight. BUT: you won`t be able to ride such a setup.even the tiniest movement of the carcass on the rim will make you loose air.otherwise there would be no reason for Michelin to produce special UST tires, right? didn`t you notice how many riders used latex inside UST tires at the European-Championships last weekend?well-i saw several top pros using latex AND heavy UST tires!!! just ask Thomas Dietsch (F/ Bianchi) who used the Michelin Comp S UST with sealling liquid inside on his Crossmax wheels... |
| but it´s not bad anyway......... | Max Aug 10, 2002 2:32 AM | | i can i.e. use the comp s in the rear at 2,5 bar at our hillclimb championships. no risk of bead seperation, enough traction and very light........... |
