Anyone got any info on the new CROSSMAX SL?Ty

I have read a tiny bit in a magazine (mbr in the U.K)

which I quote:

i "First up is the Crossmax SL. The most obvious departure from last year's wheelset, other than the colour, is the use of machined rims. Mavic uses the same process employed on the Ksyrium SL road wheel to shave off unnecessary material between the nipple heads to reduce the weight of the rim. The new Crossmax SL disc saves approximately 50g over last year's wheelset, but the real weight saving comes on the Crossmax SL ceramic with the introduction of a carbon Kevlar front hub, yielding an overall weight saving of 100g."

I cannnot find any further info, there is nothing on the Mavic site.

Hi Nino,

Do happen to have the weight on the 03 XT hydraulic brake/shifter system? I keep getting conflicting and incomplete info. So far I've managed to calculate something around 640 grams for F+R, but I don't know whether that weight includes the disc or not. Thanks.
that should be weight of "XTR" 03 hydraulic brakes. nm.divve

that`s the only number i have.
wheter that`s for a set or just one wheel isn`t sure though...
That seems very doubtful. VTT a little too helpful to Mavic?Bianchi4Me

That 1572g weight for the disc set seems pretty unlikely. Were these actual production wheels being tested, or the dreaded "pre-production prototype". I ask because the article in the U.S. Bike magazine states that the disc wheels weigh 215g more than the standard wheels. That would give you a pair weight of 1685g. France's VTT is claiming it's only 103g more for discs, for a total of 1572g. Huge difference between the two magazines, and a figure as low as 1572g seems really unlikely. Especially since the rim-brake model uses a carbon front hub and the disc model does not. Note that the article in U.K.'s MBR stated that the new disc wheels were only about 50g lighter than this year's model. Since the current wheels are claimed to weigh 1725g, that would give you a total claimed weight of about 1675g. Consistent with the number in BIKE, but not the super-low VTT weight.

You quoted an actual weight of the UST Crossmax from a German magazine for us a while back as 1805g ( 842g/ 963g). Seems pretty darned unlikely that Mavic managed to knock 233g (over 1/2 a pound!) off those wheels, which are already very light for UST, to get to the "real weight" VTT published. Something is not adding up here.
