Paint blister and corrosion on Magnesium Litech frames(3 posts)

Paint blister and corrosion on Magnesium Litech framesClive Craske

I have a Magnesium Litech frame and the paint job is very poor (green metallic paint). The frame itself is OK. Paint is blistering and peeling, and shows gray undercoat and spots of what must be soft white magnesium oxide.
How do I respray an Mg frame? I'm worried that if I rub it down the whole frame will corrode!
First off Magnesium is LESS prone to corrosion than steel...DeeEight

so stop worrying about the frame corroding unless you ride in road salt or salt water a lot. And any good autobody shop can repaint it if they have experience working with alloy surfaces.

Three years on a Lodestar (Litech) frame without visible corrosion despite scratches and flaking.
