| Your lightest road tire may be a knobby | LDF Aug 11, 2002 7:50 PM | | Becareful, lots of full slick tires actually weight more than some knobbies. The reason being is they have to be thicker for extra protection from punctures, due to the fact that the entire tire is in contact with the ground. |

| re: lightest road tires for MTB? nino...others??? | nino Aug 11, 2002 10:31 PM | | depends if you do road ONLY or want a bigger size to be able to ride some fireroads too... road only allows you to go for "Triathlon"-size road tires: 650x20mm or 650x23mm if you want some more "meat" to be able to go over fireroads then you`ll have to get the bigger 26x1" or 26x1.25" "MTB"-size. Continental Grand Prix 26x1": 195g (actual width 25mm) Specialized Turbo Por ATB 26x1": 215g (actual width 24mm) Hutchinson TOP SLICK Air light 26x1": 245g to mount those skinny tires your rim should be narrower than 23mm otherwise the rim will be larger than the tire itself... |

Hope you guys are all doing well and enjoying the last weeks of summer... I've been working like a dog on several projects and haven't checked in much recently. When September rolls around, I'll have more time to participate. Glad to see that you're keeping up to speed, Nino! |
