Anyone know anything about Magura shocks/wheelsets?KMan

Just received their 2003 catalog and see they have shocks and wheelsets listed.
Anyone have any info on their shocks and wheelsets?

Their disc wheelsets are among the stiffest of all...AZ-X

pre-built wheelsets tested in German BIKE magazine last year according to an old post by nino on that topic a while back. They use DT Swiss hubs and standard spokes--unless they've changed specs from the last model year. I've heard that their forks are pretty good and well built, but suffer a bit from stiction. Someone once told me that their forray into forks was 70% geared to selling more of their hydraulic rim brakes...

Hopefully someone has more than rumors to add about their forks! ;o)

You might want to ask over on the Brake, Shock & Wheel pages for more info.

The air shock is a strange, 300g multiple chamber thing which has a linear spring rate, very similar to a coil-over-oil shock.

The forks are quite popular over here (Western Europe) because of their easy serviceability, simple construction, reliability, and function. The coil & oil and lower end air models seem to be quite stiff and work fine with discs.

The top air model (Quake Air Pro?) is a bit flexy, has too little travel, and is apparently not very plush. But that may have changed for '03...

Features for '03 include all kinds of lockouts and travel adjust things, just like the competition.

One of the coolest models is the 024U - a hefty (1700-1800g) air fork with 80-110 (not claimed 80-100!) mm of travel. A friend of mine has one. All alloy parts - no cheapo plastic. REALLY easy to service, quite plush, certainly for an air fork w/out negative chamber, and nice and stiff laterally.

they use relabled DT hubs
comps=onix
pro=240

spokes are dt 14/15, 3x, all black, not sure if brass or alloy nipples
pro uses 317 rim, comp uses 223

both come with skewers
not sure if the weights posted by nino are with or without skewers

I weighed a set of each
3.7lbs for the pro, 4.2 for the comps (both without skewers)

if you can get a good deal on them, sure!

warranty will be handled through DT in Colorado

I got two in to check because the price was really low for me, build looks good, high and even spoke tension

they are built up in Germany and imported into the US

I double checked the spokes
both the comp and pro use DT up front (14/15) and Sapem on the rear, appears to be 14/15 as well..

for whatever it's worth...
