I got these 2002 Spec. Rockster UST 1.9 tires a couple of weeks ago. The weights blew me away! They were claimed to be 630g last year, this year's claim is 650g on their website.

One tire is 528g and the other is 588g. Now, I used a cheap wal-mart kitchen scale, but I have found it to be reliable. I'll include a picture of a Python @ 744g on the same scale for comparison.

I haven't been able to ride them yet since it's been way too cold here in Illinois. But the tread looks a lot like the Pythons. the 588g tire has held air extremely well. It's lost air at about the same rate of a tube/tire...about 10lbs over 3 weeks of non-use. The 528g tire is a different story, gone from 50lbs to 20lbs in 3 weeks. I'll probably use 50g of latex with that one.

I was trying to get the pictures in the correct order when I clicked "add to discussion" on accident. You can see that the "1.9" Rockster is a true 1.9 for being so light as compared to the 2.0 python side by side.
I have heard that the Rocksters are very fast wearing. Wish I could ride them and give a review on durabilty, grip and wear.
If you're interested, look on ebay, I saw a pair go for $30-$35 on two different occasions within the same 2 week period. Haven't lookeed since.

I think it is better to weigh some of the 03 versions to confirm the weights... I don´t think that specialized would spec a tire heavier than it really is... As an example, I have weighed a Tioga red phoenix ust 1.9 at 566gr and another at 660gr... But looking at the Rockster, it seem´s to be a good tire for the rear..

I rode a set of Rockster S-Works for a whole season last year. i found them to be pretty hard wearing. 2000miles, and they still look pretty good. Depends what conditions you ride in of course.

Great tires, even find grip in thick gooey mud!
