Nino, here's what BrewRacing is claiming to be at 202gms per pair:

BREWlitePRO road calipers! NOTHING LIGHTER!
202 grams for both pair with pads. Brakes come
with Aztec F-1 pads. All new red alloy parts.
$209 http://www.brewracingframes.com/id25.htm

They look like "optimized" Cane Creek 200SL's. For $200 they are about half the price of the CAT-USA brakes and 20gms more per brake (cat-usa is 180gms pr. and brew is 200gms pr.).

thanks but...nino

they are heavier than the CAT and i get the CAT pretty "cheap" (?)

This thread is very interesting. My friend Chris Dupois, who owns The Hub in Atlanta, and the guy behind the CAT brakes will be interested in hearing about this potential underselling/back door deal. Rest assured, no deals will be made.Insider

No matter where the Hub is, Chris has been alerted to the preceding posts.

World Cup Racers, I think yer 'buddy' who sells the CAT brakes won't have much say in the matter as to what the european distributor for the things or the race teams buying them do with their inventory.
don`t panic - there`s no black market/underselling going on !nino
Jan 26, 2003 10:20 PM
anyway - there`s no better way to make these brakes known worldwide as to have them on Nino`s bike,`right?
rest assured that they will make further sales if they perform the way as they are told to...
I hope something was lost in the translation there.....Zonic Man

"anyway - there`s no better way to make these brakes known worldwide as to have them on Nino`s bike,`right?"

....because if you were serious, that has got to be one of the most arrogant things I've heard in a great while.
a slight correction...nino

this should have been on the end of that sentence.

I hope now you get the point, don`t you ?
so far there isn`t a review anywhere on these CAT-brakes nor was the weight verified.be assured that once i have ridden them i will post how they perform and how much they weigh.that`s what i meant.nothing more.
You've lost your credibility (nm)carbonmichael

Dia-Compe is now Cane Creek.

The Brew brakes are optimized/massaged units made by Cane Creek.
more info & maybe I can shed some light on this?Steve A

The Cane Creek is single pivot and the CAT-USA is dual pivot, what you may ask is the difference one stops the bike and one does not stop the bike.Duel pivot being the best choice. People who have seen the CAT-USA at the Interbike show, have raved about them. They are supposed to stop as good or better than Dura-Ace (the other duel pivot brake)Now I cant speak for the weight yet but my conversation with these people (CAT-USA) was very confidence inspiring, so much so I plopped my $$$$ down, and I will give them a shot. I'm not sure I should or should not mention this but they had over (600) pre orders ? Can there be over (600) people out there willing to spend that kind of money in this economy if the product was not going to live up to all the hype. Did someone mention that Shimano may come out with a new Dura-Ace groupo in 2004. This is what i want to do, wait a whole year for some overbuilt parts that may or may not come along. Hay guys I'm not exactly all warm and fuzzy about the new XTR stuff, they almost got it, but why not make the XTR disc brakes, whith out those funky STI shifters, then on top of that they dont come with hoses, whats up with that? Then come to find out they dont list a (6) bolt XTR rotor(i cant find it) then i hear it's the same as XT?? I bet they would sell a lot more disc brake kits if say they came out with a nice light XTR light disc brake lever & hose kit combo, (6)bolt rotor and caliper in a kit form with Ti bolts and Ti trim (this what the marketing people are supposed to think up)?.While I'm on the subject of light road parts check out the Miche line, it's lighter than Campy record (road only sorry)@ www.redroseimports.com, I know the alloy cassette shifts great.
Steve A.. XTR Info..DIRT BOY

6-Bolt XTR rotors are available. They ARE XT rotors in a slightly different color shade and stamped to say XTR.
The hoses do not come with the Disc brakes, but with the STI Disc Shifters. This way if you have XT Disc brakes already you can use the XTR Calipers.

Personally I think this is stupid, but Shimano is a marketing genius in their Opinion on this one. If you want XTR disc brakes and their great performance then you must use Shimano parts. Personally i think it's dumb. For this reason some people won't use ANY SHIMANO parts anymore. I feel that the more parts of your brand you can get out there the better. Who cares if some wants to use XTR disc's with say SRAM or XTR shifters with Formula or Magura brakes.
But Shimano must be doing something right...

Dirt Boy thanks for the heads up "but"..Steve A

Because of the sponsor obligations (Shimano) I must stick with there products. Where I have some wiggle room is as long as it's Shimano parts it's ok to mix and match. So I must put together XT disc brake levers, XT rotors, XTR calipers, and make up hoses, then I have to use those XTR pod shifters (after 6 years with Grip Shift), performasnce wise all this is not a problem, weight wise this is big as these are not the lightest parts to come along. To me weight is big and every gram helps in the big picture. But the bottom line is I'm very thankful that I get these parts, so I guess I'm just venting. Sorry!Shimano do you guys read this stuff? I'm not just making it up. Your product rock , just overbuilt, with the technology and money you have, you could have the lightest parts known to man, OK maybe they might be exspensive , so you make an XTR Elite group, if you build it they will come, right guys.
XT hoses work with XTR calipers. If someone wants XTR hoses thenDIRT BOY
Jan 28, 2003 5:41 AM
you get can those separately if you want from a Shimano dealer. If you are using XTR pods then you will have the XTR hoses. Also the word is XTR rotors even the 6-bolt (basically XT)do perform better than XT rotors. I remember B4me posted the weight differences a while back with XTR being 2-4g lighter than XT. Might be slightly thinner.

If you use XTR hubs then the XTR rotors are lighter. Not the lightest disc hubs but decent are performance is great.

Then again if these parts are free or a Pro-Deal cost then why are you complaining? LOL!

...are exactly the same as XT 6 bolt rotors, as per Shimano America's tech clinic on the 2003 XTR stuff last night at the Sacramento Red Lion Inn.

This is good to know, graphics, I dont need no stinking graphics. Just kidding, I can live whitout the XTR logo!XT will do just fine.
