For the frame and fork - you won't get much lighter. You could start swapping the XT stuff out of lighter parts, but you won't gain much in the way of performance. XT stuff works pretty well. Stem and seatpost could be a bit lighter but the Thomson stuff works great.

Maybe get a bit creative and cut off the extra seat post you dont use that's stuffed in the frame (leave at least 2.5" for insertion). Ditch the tubes and use a Stan's or Eclipse kit. If the chain is old swap it for a SRAM hollow pin one.

If you got $$$ burning a hole in your pocket or you start breaking/wearing out stuff, then start to replace things with lightweight parts. But for now, my advice is to ride what you got.

I prefer the Avid brakes to XT and they are lighter.

Also, I'd recommend getting seperate shifters and brake levers in case you want to switch to disk in the future, go single spped, or if Shimano decides to go 10-speeds at some point. I have two sets of integrated levers, and I'm regreting it now.
also ditch the xt hubs for xtr @ least...nmAesop Rock
