I have a 1999 RX...what would be the effect if I put a 100mm fork on the front? Dramatic or subtle difference? I know, I can get a Hammerhead 100, but right now I don't want to spend the cash, and I need a new fork.
May depend on frame sizepedalAZ

I put one on my large RacerX. It felt floppy and strange the first couple of rides, but I got used to the differences. Not quite as quick feeling in tight turns, but still quick, and more sure footed on rough terrain. These effects would presumably be more pronounced on a smaller frame.

Titus has the answer to your question at

They talk about exactly how it will affect the handling on the different sizes and which type forks not to run.
