| Fox Forks | MCA Apr 10, 2003 5:06 PM | | Interested in the weights of the different forks in the FLOAT range. 80 RLC, RLT, 80 R. I assume the R is the lightest, how much lighter than the others? Also, what's the difference between RLC and RLT? Thanks

| re: Fox Forks | NZAndy Apr 10, 2003 6:42 PM | | I don't know what the weights of any of the forks are but here are some differences
The float series is adjustable travel between 80 and 100mm and come in the R, RL, and RLC models
Then there is the F80 series which is non adjustable as far as travel goes so fixed at 80mm and come in X (brain thing like specialised epic) and RLT
R = rebound adjustment
L = lock out
C = compresion adjustment
T = Lock out threshold blow off
The F80 series will be lightest and I would assume that the R is lighter than the Rl and RLC but how much I don;t know. |
| one thing wrong.... | scream5204 Apr 11, 2003 7:27 AM | | All lockout equipped fox forks automatically "blow off" when you hit something hard. Fox's lockout is not a "true lockout" like the SID. which I actually like. the T in RLT, I don't know what it means. All I know is that blow off comes with any fox fork that has lockout. the rest is all correct. hope this helps.
R = rebound adjustment
L = lock out
C = compresion adjustment |
| What I heard the T stands for... | squeakr Apr 11, 2003 6:42 PM | | Not quite sure, maybe someone in the know can enlighten us, but I heard that the T stands for titanium as that particular model gets a titanium spring. Don't know for sure, but read that somewhere and also heard from others who said that they heard the same thing, which would explain the slightly lighter weight of that fork. Not for sure, just what I heard. |
| one thing wrong.... | Ventanarama Apr 11, 2003 8:15 PM | | The T in RLT stands for "Threshold". Yes, all lockout models have a blow-off valve, but on the RLC and RLT you can adjust the threshold that it takes to engage the blow-off. ie: you can set it up firm (but it will still blow-off with a big enough hit) or you can set it up soft, more like an anti-bob where it's just harder than normal to compress but has a lot more give than the high-threshold setting. The RLT does have a Ti negative spring, but that's not what the "T" designates.

| re: Fox Forks | Ventanarama Apr 10, 2003 8:13 PM | | Here are some weights for you, all uncut with brake bosses still on......
F80RLT=3.5
F80X=3.7
Float=3.7
Talas=3.9
Weight difference between R,RL,RLC is very minimal. Make the decision on what features you think you'll use, because the weight difference between them isn't big enough to matter.
