Lightest V-brake with Interloc Metawire?(4 posts)

Lightest V-brake with Interloc Metawire?Martino
Apr 12, 2003 7:16 AM
The set up is (for the front)

Avid Ultimate levers 75 grams
Avid Mag V-brake 140 grams (with titanium bits)
Interloc Metawire 25 grams
Kris King 105 grams
Ceramic Mavic

Before the Metawire I had a Delta/Teflon-cable.

Main advantage of Metawire: much less binding of the cable and, probably because of this and the compressionless quality of the metawire, a really detectable improvement in power and modulation. One finger braking is now really feasible.

This set up makes for a really powerful brake, modulation is exceptional.

Other advantages: easy installation (no need to cut anything), fully sealed. Relatively cheap: I have left enough Metawire for a second bike ...
Use Aluminum hardware instead of TiHomegrown ric

The aluminum hardware is strong enough, lighter and most importantly to many, much cheaper. The only ti you would need is the pad mounting post.
