Is this wheelset both Light, durable and reasonable? I heard that this hub is the American Classic...Can I do better?

It's a little heavy for the cost, but not bad. Looks to me like they're using WTB hubsets, not Amclassic.

The Ti spoke set weighs about right, but is a tad costly.

Compare getting a quote from Mike Garcia, who does hand built wheels with Ti spokes, etc. He built me an American Classic hub/synergy rim with Ti spokes shipped for $350. They weighed 1460g.

Those WTB's are rebadged American Classic disc hubs...wfl3

...they licensed the design from AC. They are almost exactly the same, the finish is a little different - the WTB's have more of a satin/matte finish instead of the glossy black of the ACs.

Also, 1600 grams for a disc set w/ 3.1 UST rims and steel spokes for $350 is really light and a bargain to boot. My guess is that the set will actually weigh a little more as a similar set with 317s weighs in at approx 1550 grams and the 3.1s will add at least 200 grams to that total.

AC is the best!
