..um..just for the helll of it.

I've reeeeally grown to like this ride. Been riding the hell outta it lately too. I'm happy with this thing for sure now. Last week i stuck the hand me down xtr long cage RD on it. Last night it got the xtr 952 12-34 cassette. 24.2lbs as it sits in the pic. Duke 02 sl100 fork. UST frt wheel/tire. Tracks great. Rear Airlight for fast spinup. Titanium crankbolts, granny ring bolts, front cps bolts and cable clamp, wcs stem bolts and steertube bolt, shifter/brake pinch bolts, front rotorbolts, bottle cage bolts, axles. Alloy unused bottle bolts and outer chainring bolts and crankbolt dust covers. nu72 bb with truvativ team rings. Carbon protaper bars, eggs, bonti asym rr rim w/ Real hub, bla bla bla bla...

The only oem part left is the seatclamp(Extralite clamp on the way)and the FD. Sad but true.

Duck-just messing around is all.

Nice attention to red partsdirtdad

The grips and saddle are nice, but red crankbolts? Nice.

that both wheels contribute to the flywheel affect, not just the rear.....

Cool bike. Hardtails are still the best for the tight and slower singletrack....
what do you think of the schwinn???Dr. Jekyll

Yo duck, what do you think of the schwinn's ride? Those are pretty nice and they're cheap right now. Looking at a HT as a spare part carrier. Thanks.
Ops, the real response is below. Sorry nm Duckman

I love that thing. Frame is a 19". I'm 5-11.5" tall, and its...Duckman

..perfect for my build. My nrs rides are an 18.5 and a 20.5", so its a good mix. The geo is very forgiving, and as shown..takes a taller 100mm fork in stride. The older archive reviews here are very positive regarding the geo of this frame, and its upgrade worthiness. Mines an alum Moab 2, being a 2000(or 01?)model i think. My bud bought it new at an rei dent sale for $350 2 yrs ago. I paid the same from him, then got full retail($800)payback when we rolled his truck down the mtn last year at Tsali, and got to keep the bike. Fun ride for sure, and a great way to get some use from spare/cast off parts as you suggest. I like the frame so much i often scope ebay for them just for fun. Not that i'm a hopeless gearwhore or anything of course.:)

XT combo brake takeoffs bought here from the class adds. Hell, the whole bikes a rolling parts "holder" sorta.

Duck

The Moab hours before it was mangled as the truck rolled 1.5 times with it and the Fuel 98 on the rear. Both bikes are still alive and well tho,...so no cause for tears anyone. LOL!! OEM wire bead Fires..Titec, deore, and xt components. Koski brakes. It had tno idea what it was in for.

My new beater arrived todaytl1

Well, the frame did anyway. A new old stock 1980s(?) Miyata frame with a vintage-cool paint job. I've always really liked Miyatas and this one shows very nice worksmanship. Interesting bolt-on rear triangle on it. We'll see how durable this thing is as it does Clydesdale commuting duty and as a lunch hour bike to keep at work for mid day blasts.

Your bike however, looks at least one step above "beater" status. It looks like a fun bike to ride!
