| Nino,is this road frame light enough for you ??? | xc-rider Jul 11, 2003 4:51 AM | | I suppose that no one need description ;-)
size is small. |
| and now complete... | xc-rider Jul 11, 2003 4:51 AM | | |
| I still prefer a stiff aluminium frame... | nino Jul 11, 2003 5:13 AM | | mine weighs 979g/ size M and most probably is also cheaper than the Litespeed ti frame.Scott frames are well known to have the best stiffness/weight factors.in a small size i guess it will weigh about 900g too.
anyway - 900g is amazingly light.
my "old" Scott team issue with its heavy 979g frame...
BUT my new 04 ride will be lighter still:
04 Scott C1 carbon frame weighs just 860g / size M and the carbon SLfork 280g...

| The Scott 04 is a SWEET frame..... | KMan Jul 11, 2003 6:56 AM | | What's that puppy gonna run? I'm sure it's way over my budget for a new road bike.

| frame+fork: 2300 Euro = 2600 US$ (nm) | nino Jul 11, 2003 8:42 AM | | nm |
| That's a NICE frame!! | LAN Jul 11, 2003 8:02 AM | | Storck has always been good on Stiffnes to weight but these new Scott frames are really promising! They even made a fork that's as light as Stiletto Light!
Well I have to try and sell the new frame I bought four months ago.
Anyway are the Scott decals under clearcoat? (I think there is a bit overkill with all the decals) |
| Just saw a dicussion over at RBR... | LAN Jul 11, 2003 8:08 AM | | I just saw a discussion over at RoadbikeReview about frames used in the TdF, and some say that the Scott in one of the lower end bikes!! Yeah right!!
Only because they haven't heard of anything else than Trek/Colnago doesn't mean something else is bad. |
| lower end bike...? | nino Jul 11, 2003 8:46 AM | | those guys simply don`t know what they are talking about.
Jean Delatour is the Pro Team that uses Scott frames in the TdF. they use 03 Scandium frames which are still some of the lightest, if not THE lightest production frames with highest stiffness numbers as well. |
| All Jean Delatour riders use Scott C1 except one rider!! | LAN Jul 11, 2003 3:15 PM | | I have been watching the TdF and all of the Jean Delatour riders use the new carbon frame except one rider. (Finot??)
They certainly don't know much about Scott frames.
Aren't the Scott Scandium frame and Lapierre Scandium frame made in the same place??
I asking cause they "ranked" the Lapierre higher. |
| sorry - I didn`t see a C1 yet... | nino Jul 11, 2003 9:10 PM | | I was surprised to see the Jean Delatour riders on the scandium frames! I have yet to see a carbon C1.I followed pretty much every stage so far. that breakout from Finot was amazing.over 180 km solo and getting caught just 2.5 km before the finish line....same story yesterday with O'Grady and another young frenchman doing over 200km solo but because of O'Grady trying to get rid of his "companion" the two lost speed in the process and got caught just 3-400m before the finish line.stupid!!
Lapierre is indeed from the same factory in Tawian.it`s heavier though and doesn`t have the same tubing.I weighed several Lapierre frames at the Zurich Bike-Show where they all were heavier than advertozed unlike Scott that matches the advertized weights. |
| sorry - I didn`t see a C1 yet... | divve Jul 11, 2003 10:20 PM | | I've been watching the Tour for the whole week as well. I haven't seen any C1 either yet. Both teams still seamed to be on the low-end scandium frames and Delatour on low-end 9-speed DA:) |
| low-end scandium...? | nino Jul 11, 2003 10:54 PM | | ahem - low-end scandium?
I guess you refer to the C1 when saying low-end to those scandium frames, aren`t you?there^s no low-end scandium frames.just the Team issue version which isn`t low end at all.
but it`s as you say , they use the scandium frames and 9s shimano. |
| Es war nur ein Scherz.... | divve Jul 12, 2003 12:35 AM | | ....let's hope those Ritchey parts don't brake off (see Tour handlebar test) heh. |
| sorry - I didn`t see a C1 yet... | LAN Jul 12, 2003 3:43 AM | | Well, they used them on the Tour presentation, and when Jean Delatour was in front of the peleton to help Nazon (??) capture the Yellow jersey in the intermediate sprints, you could see that the used Scott C1.
Finot, who has been the only "active" rider used Scandium. |
| you were right - i just saw one with Patrice Halgand... | nino Jul 12, 2003 4:45 AM | | Patrice Halgand, the leader of Jean Delatour is on a C1.He just won a intermediate sprint during todays stage. |
| i still prefer a pinarello dogma .... | stump Jul 11, 2003 6:43 PM | | and those stiffness numbers doesnt seems to help very much those guys.... |
| I still prefer a stiff aluminium frame... | xc-rider Jul 11, 2003 8:47 AM | | don't worry about the price nino, this frame is not for me, it's very nice but I agree that it's too expensive for a non-custom frame.
after reading your oppinion I have a question for you :
do you think stiffness of a frame always help you ? it's not my oppinion, I have actually a very stiff aluminium frame, for one hour ok, two hours ok...but after it's sometime very difficult because the bike is too hard and really don't help me...do you understand what I mean ?
So I agree that some titanium frames aren't as stiff as aluminium but when you go for a ride you don't go only for 5mn and maybe the end of your ride could be easier with titanium...
In my oppinion very stiff frames are only good if you have enough power, if you haven't you need a frame which is more helpful and consequently more adapted to your capacities !!!
With such stiff frames as scott aluminium or carbon I hope you are very powerful ;-)))) |
