| Thompson stem | Eliot Jul 11, 2003 7:14 AM | | I need to get a 120 stem. I have always used Thompson...Can I really shave substansial weight as well as keeping the performance of the Thompson? Price? |
| re: Thompson stem | stump Jul 11, 2003 7:35 AM | | it depends. whats your riding style? do you like to sprint and climbe stand or seated? there are several guy here that will say that their fsa or ritchey stems are as stiff as thomson, anyway, i have been riding my thomson for about two years and last week i had the oportunity to test a ritchey wcs stem... what a piece of #@$#! it was soo danm flexy! i really dont know how xc riders can race with this things...
fsa is a lot stiffer than the ritchey but to tell you the truth, if your goal is to save weight, start saving some money, contact DIRT BOY from www.light-bikes.com and ask for a extralite ultrastem or the stem. you will have a stem that is "almost" as stiff as thomson but at half the weight! if your goal is SAVE WEIGHT, there is not better choice.
and dont forget to read the reviews on this site. |
