| WAIT A MINUTE!... i think i might be liking the new forum!.. | marco righetti Jan 14, 2004 3:39 PM | | I was in it a minute ago and i think i might actually be liking the forum!
Is it not like the old forum except the headings are in individual boxes? |
| the topics keep on moving around based on replies... | porridge Jan 14, 2004 4:31 PM | | and you can't see the replies unless clicking on a topic...
and it keeps on crashing... |
| Please take two aspirin immediately | bogart Jan 14, 2004 5:24 PM | | the new forum is really bad. i can't believe for as long as these guys have been doing this forum (not to mention the other ones they have), that they would go with a cookie-cutter format like they presented to us. it's so poor when compared to what we're used to.
you know if the number of hits to this site falls off, so will the advertisers. |
| that's an IMPORTANT THOUGHT... | nino Jan 15, 2004 12:09 AM | | you're right, as soon as the actual hits drop evental sponsors are gone.
I still try to figure out how the new format works.i tried fiddling around on the various options to make it suit my needs but to no avail!
-I don't need any smilies
-I don't need an "avatar"
-I don't want to click 10 times to make a site suit my needs every time
-I wan't to follow a thread over the days which you can'0t because it gets mixed in the list all the time.do you guys always remember which thread it was you posted in? I don't.but i knew where it was in the list and easily scrolled down.now you have to click 3 times before you see a thread - weird.
-I don't need all those 1000 options...
-the designers of this format have to be some teenies.
I just want to SEE whats going on and that's NOT the case with the new format.
meanwhile I'm still trying hard to figure out how it works... |
| one more thing... | VT Mike Jan 15, 2004 7:23 AM | | no one has really had to do any searches on the new forum yet because there aren't that many posts yet. but the new software will not search for words smaller than four letters. it's not possible to search for words like XTR or XO. |
| It's a lot like YaBb...which isn't very suited... | ®i© Wi©to® Jan 15, 2004 2:10 AM | | ...to this forum, I think. The club I ride with uses YaBb, and it really isn't suited to a very large number of members. It's great when you've got a small amount of people posting on a small amount of (possibly) large topics.
That's not the case with this board - I think the old format serves the purpose much better. Also, I suspect the new forum requires a lot more physical storage. Our webmaster is constantly removing old profiles and dead topics to keep out server(s) as clean as possible. |
