| paging nino | pat_w Jan 20, 2004 6:46 AM | | have you ever used the continental supersonic twister pro(1.9)?
if so what did you think of it |
| I sure tried the Twister SS BUT... | nino Jan 20, 2004 11:53 AM | | but besides their low weight they are really useless!
they have no grip.definitely unridable as a front tire.you can't even touch the front brake...as a rear tire it might be ok IF the terrain is dry and not loose.BUT be aware that it is the tire with the least protection against flats.you cut easily throught he bead.definitely use it with sealant (Stans or Eclipse Tubelesskit).
Rolling resistance is great however the Nokian NBX lite 2.0 is faster and delivers TONS of grip too.the Twister may be light but the Nokian or any other tire with good bite will do circles around the Twister around any corner or when going downhills...
for me the Twister is a "poser" tire. |
| Agree with Nino but... | Bouch Jan 21, 2004 10:22 AM | | I have one in front of my Spec FSR. I place this tire in front I was really afraid to get some flats and, with less weight in front, the risk was smaller that using it as a rear tire. But I agree with Nino that the bead is very thin. For the grip, when the tire is brand new, I would say that it is pretty much the same as a Spec Rockster Pro, which has not a good grip either !
I used this tire for a 2 days RAID ( 200 km, 2-3 short (1h15 races, some rides and got no flats. My weight is 165 lbs and I keep a high pressure in my tires.
I really think that the rolling resistance of this tire is very good !
