| 26" fixed gear street tires | SS Kevin Nov 1, 2001 11:28 PM | | Any suggestions? I have knobbies that were laying around on my newly built fixed gear commuter, but eventually I'm putting slicks on it. It's geared to high for any of these NoCal trails anyways. I figure I can run just about anything on the front, but the back is what I'm wondering about due to skidding. Should I go cheap and thick on the rear, or is there a good rear street tire for 26" wheels? |
| I've said it before.... | Patrick Nov 2, 2001 1:52 PM | | .....and I'll say it again. Nothing rocks the road like the Dyno Fireball cruiser tire. They are fat and round for a cushy ride. They are smooth and grippy; perfect for the streets. And they have the coooooooolest flame tread pattern. As to the downside...these tires weigh more than my wheels. They are beefy. But they are thick and can handle skidding. The other problem I heard recently is availability. With the bankruptcy of Schwinn/GT there may not be many Fireballs to be had. But if your shop has some or can get them....
Peace,
