| here's my 2 cents | Spankenstein Feb 17, 2002 9:25 PM | | I just recently did the 100 miler a few months ago here in socal. I used some cheap 26x1 which fit fine on my set of rhynos with no problem. However if you are going to run 1" tires do make sure to get the smaller tubes (1-1.5). My only regret with doing the ride is that I didn't change the gear ratio. I run a 32:18 which is fine for my fat a$$ on the local trails but not so great on the ride, especially with the slick tires. I ended up with 6 1/2 hours in the saddle the first day which was 55 miles and the second day was about 4 1/2 hours. It was fun until about the fourth hour of the second day. If you're not having to keep pace with anyone and depending on the terrain I would consider a fairly higher gear ratio than mine something like a 42:16. In any case these are just from my experience and I am quite possible the slowest person in the universe, let alone on this board. Good luck with the ride and have fun.

| Spankenstein, you know this is coming... | Andy aka Rut Feb 18, 2002 7:55 AM | | and probably from more than just me. You should mention that you did the 100'er with your MOM and that it took 2 days. I have to admit that you did, infact, mention about the fast pace that you constantly keep. Good job. Where have you been and how was that crit that you were going to win?!?! You know the one that was 30 minutes long and for beginners only. How did you do???
see you on the trail?

| Hey man this was a charity ride... | spankenstein Feb 18, 2002 5:39 PM | | I did not once brag about doing the ride nor did I bother anyone with the agonizing details. By the way I did just get back from a ride, mountain if you can beleive that! Timan can provide proof. I just find it too hard especially during winter to come out to your death rides at night. Besides I heard you were asking for people's resume's now if they were considering riding with you. I am in training now for the super secret D13 ride, are you in for that one? Wouldn't the warriors society be mad at you for hanging out with me, you know because I am so slow and fat?
-Toad.
P.s.-Thanks for sponsoring me on that ride with my MOM!!! |
| Do not reveal details of the D13 | Timan Feb 19, 2002 7:59 AM | | The D13 must not be revealed. Yes, I can verify a rare MTB appearance by Spank on Blackstar yesterday. He was however on a squishy gearie. |

...and what's this about Todd being on an MTB ride. That's not believable in any sense of the word. Are you guys in cahoots about something? How did he get you to vouch for him? |

Yes, Toad was indeed on the ride. Oh, he didn't shuttle the ride either. Rumor has it that Term had to shuttle the Sunday ride. True? |
| Hey someone named Jay wants info on the D13 ride... | Spankenstein Feb 19, 2002 3:21 PM | | I don't know what is going on with this D13 ride but someone is looking for info on the fred board... Fred Board??? Oh I mean radless. Sorry I got a little carried away there only freds belong in radless.

Sure, if you call 2000 feet of climbing shuttling - including cleaning that harsh climb on the Main Divide from Blue Jay to the start of Pinos. BTW, I've also cleaned the climb from the 74 to the top of Blue Jay... Come back and speak to me again when you're not too afraid to get rain on your bike, you little man...
[Timan] Ooohhhhhh... I can't ride with you guys... I see some sprinkles out there... Wait! There's a drop! I saw it! I saw it! I'm not kidding you Term!... |
| Copyright infringement... | Timan Feb 19, 2002 9:58 PM | | Relax Term, no one's questioning how incredible your riding abilities are(as long as there is no heat, dust or altitude to deal with). Besides that little mini resume that you listed still won't qualify you for the D13. Besides, your mom never refers to me as "little man"
That said, are you in for friday? |
