Anyone have opinions, experience, recommendation?
I'm partial to the Azonics because 1) I'm extremely pleased with my experience with other Azonic parts and 2) I like the pinch bolt idea.
Thoughts?
I'm sick of striping, bending, and breaking cranks!!!

having pinch bolts. Pinch bolts can let the arms creap outward on the spindle. The Profiles use "standard" type crank bolts that work great.
Check the reviews on this site. Many are by dirt jumpers. At least one guy says his crankset has been on 5 different frames without needing to replace any parts. |

1. What's with the special tool?
2. Is the spider sepparate from the crankarm?
3. Do I need to specify BB width?
4. Weight? (Just kidding- I really don't want to know)
By the way, these are for my Chester- I bent the Turbine LPs that are on it now.

If you mean the installation/removal tool, it presses the arm onto the spindle and allows you to use a "DAS Wrench" to remove the arm. It is necessary and is included with the crankset.

Yes. You can get 110 or 94mm spiders or use BMX chainwheels.

No, but I would call Matt about the spindle length.

You are right. You do not want to know. But you can lose a quarter-pound by going to the Ti spindle. |

1) The arms fit very tightly onto the spindle; the tool is necessary to press them on.
2) Yes: the spider slides onto the spindle and bolts to the back of the right arm w/ a 7/32" hex bolt.
3) The cranks come with internal spacer tubes, which allow them to be run with both 68 and 73 mm shells. Since the arms can be spaced apart to virtually any desired width (by using external spacers), spindle length is probably more relevant. If memory serves, there are three sizes, the shortest one being 5 3/4".
4) My setup (both arms, spider, cups and short spindle) weighs in @ 1194 g. The Ti spindle would lop about 110 g off this figure.

They're 11 months old with pretty low miles, 180mm long, some custom midnight blue (not quite black) powdercoat, and a Spot 34t ring.
