Nov 21, 2002 8:29 AM | | Since replacing my chainring with a TruVativ ss-specific ring, and a new PC-58 chain, I have dropped my chain on climbs 3 times in the past 4 days; once on Sunday's gathering and twice on last night's full moon ride. Luckily I'm 0 for 3 on bodily injury. The chain goes right back on and is taut - no sag whatsoever. Chainline is straight.
I'm running 32:18, tensioner-less. I'm wondering if it's:
a) flexing cranks/ring (TruVativ)
b) twigs or debris lifting the chain off
c) my ripped thighs are just too much for it

Did you replace the freewheel/cog as well? If the chain pitch doesn't match up to the cog it can have problems meshing under load. |

Nov 21, 2002 12:59 PM | | and that the wheel is straight in the frame relitive to the BB (may not look centered in the stays when it is.) It does not take much to derail the chain. I had to readjust mine several times.
Might try a BMX/SS chain. The side plates are not cut away like gearie chains so they will stay on the teeth better. |
