| Paging SSConvert owner... | Mountain Cycle Shawn Nov 21, 2002 7:20 PM | | How about adding the calculations using a half link to your software? |
| re: Paging SSConvert owner... | poison chicken Nov 21, 2002 7:54 PM | | MCS, i hear ya! that is also another great suggestion. i will work on that. i need to study up on it more. i read below that they don't work with the singulator and one says they do...but i don't understand if the half-link is useful, then why use a singulator at all? isn't that the idea to be able to avoid using one. we will figure that out soon and add that to the program. sheldon brown suggested adding gain ratio , great idea! he explains the advantage of this ratio to gear inches (good stuff to know). i am going to have both. please continue making suggestions and feedback. i will keep the website updated with the latest versions. |
| Thanks!... | Mountain Cycle Shawn Nov 21, 2002 8:22 PM | | I was wondering how a half link would affect the calculations. Would using a half link be like adding or subracting the chain stay length by a half inch? |
| half link stuff | poison chicken Nov 21, 2002 10:49 PM | | the way it is, your chain length (not chainstay Length) has to be a whole number like 47 " or 50 ", something like that. by adding a half a link you double your possiblities by allowing combinations that produce chainlengths of 47.5 " or 50.5 ". the net effect on the chainstay length of adding a half a link would be making it longer, and vice-versa. however, obviously adding a half doesn't actually make the chainstay length longer....but you gave me a good idea of how to incorporate it into the program. thanks |
| Your welcome! It gives the same... | Mountain Cycle Shawn Nov 22, 2002 4:55 PM | | affect as if you made the chainstay 1/2" longer or would it be shorter. don't know, lol! |
