Re $699 Airborne Ti Hag SS...I AM smaller!.........Jmac17

Hey fellow 1gearers! I checked into this frame and was wondering if anybody had any comments/experience with Airborne. Quality? Value?
This seems to be a decent price on a Ti frame, yes? I have new upgrade parts waiting to be swapt out onto the right new frame!!

Do these warrant being on this frame?

Mavic 517's all blk
XTR/fh Paul/rh blk w/18t fw
XTR V brakes & levers(you know the color)
XTR splined cranks w/Spot 34t SSspider ring(close to jericho look)
Thompson stem, seat post & riser bar blk
WTB Rocket V stealth(yet to embrace my rear :0)
WTB Nano & Moto's f&r respectfully

Hmmmm......I guess thats all we have on these rigs, right?

Still deciding on front fork......maybe Sid Team/Race with lockout??
I'm 130lbs., so a light fork should be fine. Or a Fox maybe?(xtra pound or so)

Probably go front disc sometime in the future....peer preSSure...preSSure...

Thanks in advance for the input.

Jeff

I have a Ti Hag and I love it. (I also had the Corsair frame for a while, too). It's light, well-made and flexes in all the right spots. Plus, I got it used for $500 so the price was definitety right. A lot of people are wary of Airborne's product line, due to the fact that the bikes are made overseas. But there really are only two factors that I was concerned about: craftsmanship and customer service. Two things at which Airborne excels.

My setup is similar to yours:
16" frame
Mavic 517's with Paul rear/Hugi front Hubs
Avid mech. disc front/Avid V-rear brakes
XTR cranks with 33t Jericho Suffering
17t ACS claw
Eggbeaters
Race Face Stem
IRD carbon bars
Easton post
Zoke X-Fly 80mm
I take it that this is a used frame?Beer Mug

They just started building them again. The new ones are a custom
build, at about 1100 bucks.

Note that there are two 16" frames listed - 2002 and 2003. All of the '03 frames are the same (higher) price.

I bought an 18" Ti-Hag when they first came out, and it's still my most used bike, I figure I put ~6000km/year on it, a 50:50 mix of commuting & trails. It is my main 24hrs bike. It's a well made frame, the only thing missing are disc brakes mounts.

Cheers,
Tom

Airborne's are sweet, not the best TI frames but close to the top. And to get one at $699 is incredible. I'd be all over that, maybe I just cut 6 inches off my legs... You're lucky. You can always thank me later when you want, for giving all you guys the head's up at this incredible deal. Its freaking 50% off.

It's funny that I am telling you to go forward, becuase just today somebody, somehow ripped my cc# and purchased some sh!te from and online gaming website, we're talking $250.00. I still say do it, don't hesitate. Any hesitation might result in them raising the price or something. Then you would kick yourself countless times for the rest of your life. Handle your biz. Let me know how it turns out. Then everytime your'e on the trails think about how cool that kid Donk was, for hooking a brotha up. Peace.
Too late!bonk

that's my dealer cost! great deal! as good as any ti frame out there. especially if you don't need to see merlin or seven on the downtube just to impress those around you to make up for some strange insecurities spawned early in life.
go for it!
