As it turned out, I think that I did have more control than many of the other racers. It was kinda fun to freak everyone behind me out by going into a corner in a full on slide, then pedalling right out of it. Longest slide had to have been 30-35 yards. I'll try riding it on some of the gravel roads around here, then maybe, if I'm confident enough, on trails in the spring. Should be interesting. 8]
