| My C-Dale commuter! | CdaleSS Mar 27, 2003 12:49 PM | | Hey everybody!
Kinda new to the forum, but here's my converted Cannondale road bike that I use for gettin' around the town. I removed the drop handlebars and replaced them with some risers when I converted it. And i'm just lovin' it! |

| You missed a spot. | TrevorInSoCal Mar 27, 2003 12:59 PM | | So when are you gonna get rid of that shifter? ;)
Nice bike, can't tell from the pics though, is it fixed or free?

| You missed a spot. | CdaleSS Mar 27, 2003 1:04 PM | | I wish I could get the darn shifters off, but there are shifter pegs welded to the frame! If I take the them off, i'm left with the sharp pegs...
It's not fixed gear...not that brave yet! ;) |

You could always hacksaw them off, grind/file it smooth, and then spray some primer over the bare metal spot(Primer's only really necessary if it's steel. Pretty sure most Cannondales are AL.). Maybe cover the unsightly shifter scar with a sticker when you're done...

| Hmmm I been thinkin a that me self | Trevo Mar 27, 2003 2:07 PM | | ON my Giant its got canti cable bosses, like that annoying little oldschool chunk sticking outa the top of the seatstay bridge. What would be the best way to remove it? Could I just grind the welds with a dremal and then twist it off with a wrench? That would seem feasable with aluminum.
Thanks
Nice C-dale by the way, but be careful Ive seen lost of people break that style of frame casue the tire wears through the chainstay if it rubs! |
| Shifters... | kevl Mar 27, 2003 2:20 PM | | I think it was the Trek thread yesterday where someone suggested using license plate screws. They were saying that they thread pitch and diameter was the same and you could get fancy ones at an automotive supply store. Don't know if it's true, but it's worth a shot.

| that, or... | Hollywood Mar 27, 2003 2:30 PM | | I posted the Trek w/shifters. I think I'll try using a cheap aluminum bottle opener, lay it on top of a lever, draw a template, then cut it out. Instant flip-up bottle opener. I'll cut the inside part so it doesn't slice my leg open.
or you could just do like I do and make engine noises and pretend like your shifting gears, then just pedal faster. rrrrrrrrnnnnnn....RRRRRRrrrrrnnnnnn....
i sigh,

| vrooooom putter spatter cough! | Trevo Mar 27, 2003 10:25 PM | | I do the same thing but before I excelerate I throtel the grip and make motorcycle noises, then speed off. TI impresses no one, casue no one is ever listening or looking.
its fun
