Freewheels - Sunrace vs. White Industries(4 posts)

Freewheels - Sunrace vs. White IndustriesSurly Pete

I just picked up my new BIKE mag and saw a new freewheel that I was previously unaware existed. The review read pretty good, clutch engagement and completely silent. It is $100 but that is pretty close to the White Industries in cost. Has anyone seen or heard of Sunrace freewheels? If so how does it compare to the White.

Thanks,

Pete
everyone's heard of them, nobody's seen onebn

I'd have a hard time using anything that said SunRace. Much less something that costs 100 bucks. I've worked on way too many Mongooses (Mongeese?) and Huffys with SunRace freewheels.
Dunno about Sunrace, but I do know about WhiteGrizza®

I use and spec White Ind freewheels on my customers bikes. They're like jewellery basically, and yeah, are hellishly expensive but they seem to bring the ubiquitous freewheel into the realm of the feasable. The quality is amazing, although one weird thing I've found is that the cranks will turn when walking the bike. I guess the seals just need breaking in or something, but apart from that, they're fantastic bits of gear. The even sound nice! =]
