Cannondale SS Conversion?(2 posts)

Cannondale SS Conversion?WAM
Mar 28, 2003 9:24 AM
Has anyone had success converting a Cannondale Caad 5 to SS without a tensioner? A buddy wants to do it, and I'm going to help him. I was hoping to use someone else's experience as a starting point along with the famous "poison chicken" calculator thingie.

Thanks!
I have your answer-I thinkFett

I had a 02 F3000SL CAAD5 frame that I converted to SS. 34/18 worked and I was able to come by a 35 tooth ring, so I also had 35/17. If the add one/subtract one theory works, 32/20 should work as well. It worked well for a while and then my chain stretched some and I had problems with it derailling. If you haven't heard of them, I now use a Disco chain guide on the rear and it seems to work very well.
