Redline Monocog question (standover height)BillR
May 27, 2003 3:08 PM
I am debating buying one but have no access to one locally. Anyone with a 19" or 17" that could give me an idea of the standover height for one of these would be appreciated.
Thanks

Bill, I have a 19". Sorry but I don't have access to a tape measure. I'm 5'11" with a 34" inseam, measured floor to crotch. I've got plenty of clearance, like 4" over the top tube.

Keep in mind, the seat tube on the Monocog sticks up like two inches over the top tube, so their 19" is really like a 17" measured center of BB to center of top tube.

Up at 6:00 yesterday for a group ride in the Santa Monica mtns. with the South Bay mtb club and some other riders I've been tagging along with on night rides. Ken aka gpsser came along to represent SS with me. Gearies: 20, Singlespeeders: 2 !!! Overall about 20 miles, and lots of folks surprised that we rode it all SS.

Then it was on to a quick shower & lunch before running out to the World Stunt Awards at the Paramount Studios in Hollywood. A good friend of mine is a stuntman in the film biz and invited me and another buddy to join the fun. He won 3 awards last year for driving in The Fast & the Furious. An amazing outdoor show and the after-party was freakin' cool. Harrison Ford and Arnold were both there, along with some cuties – photos below. The guy who owns Red Bull puts on the show & party on every year for the stunt community, including starting a foundation that supports families if the stunt guys are injured or killed. The show airs next Monday on the USA network. If you like action flicks, check it out!

(home at 2am, so pardon the delirium)

b First, the ride:

Regrouping at the top of a climb

Hollywood rolling the rocks

shade huddle under an oak

escape from the sun in an oasis of poison oak

2 lone singlespeeds amongst a gaggle of gearies. Here Ken is awestruck at his sheer power, while a gearie doesn't feel so hot.

b Now on to the nightlife, where I went into
i paparazzi
mode:
Host Dennis Hopper arrives.

Kelly Hu from the Scorpion King and X-2

Michelle Rodriguez from Blue Crush, Fast & Furious.

Actress Nia Peeples

Actress Victoria Pratt

The Rock gives me the stink eye. What are YOU lookin' at?

Action director Michael Bay, arriving without his usual Playmate du jur

and last but not least – your own Hollywood (with the shirt to prove it), getting my 15 seconds of fame.

Dennis Hopper opens the show at Paramount. He makes a great entrance on a motorcycle, being chased by cops.
