Questions on the Redline Monocog...(4 posts)

Questions on the Redline Monocog...Delta
Sep 23, 2003 5:08 AM
1. Just took delivery of one but have noticed a "knocking" sound when spinning under load...mainly slight uphills. Do not seem to hear it when standing up and cranking. Any clues?

2. Would a 2.4" Mutanoraptor fit this bike. Anyone tried?

Thanks in advance.

Even though this is a rigid bike, I am shocked at how the steel frame soaks up the smaller stuff on the trail. This bike is no more uncomfortable than my Cannondale hardtail with lefty front suspension!

1. The knocking could be the 'normal" freewheel knock, though the circumstances you describe it happening under are kind of odd. Check the crank bolts, and the chainring bolts to make sure they are tight.

2. You'll have to slide the wheel back an inch in the dropouts, but yes the 2.4 Mutanoraptor will fit fine in the rear, but you'll need to do that for that tall tire to clear the brake cable. FWIW, I used the race version of that tire.
Thanks, 2.4" Mutanoraptors (race) fit...Delta

but are close on the bottom. Within 1/8" on either side. I don't do anything crazy (just the occasional hardpack tree root) on the bike so hopefully it should work. No way those tires are 2.4"...not even close.

Ditch the cheap Dicta freewheel. And have the BB faced (LIGHTLY!)and taped. Grease the BB spindle.
