ENO hub...VBrake interface problems? Any?(5 posts)

ENO hub...VBrake interface problems? Any?Pohukai

I like the concept of the ENO (the eccentric rear hub) and I have a friend that uses one on her road bike in a fixed gear configuration. However, on her bike the rear brake is rendered useless because the hub rotates the rim too far away from her brake pads. Is this a problem ONLY on road wheels? It seems like this could also be a problem on mtb (26") wheels but perhaps the small diameter wheel and more adjustments on the vbrake shoes doesn't.

Not at all true.I`ve been riding fixed for 8+ years and find the more stopping power the better. Not as clean, not as pure, but it works, and works well.

You might have to adjust the brakes, since the hub is eccentric, and will reposition the geometry of the frame, slightly.

Look here: http://www.adventurefind-outdoors.com/eno3.html

"YouÕll definitely see the discrepancy with the brakes. So keep that in mind. Seeing this will make you understand the effectiveness of ENO. Adjusting the hub will eliminate this, and you will be happy."

First, set up the ENO, then worry about adjusting the brake pads. And if you're using the other side of ENO, why use a rear brake? That's almost like buying three gnomes for the price of 2.
Great! Thank you. (nm)Pohukai
