Is it a good rim for trials? (I can get them for cheap)

yep, it's similar to a reg'lar rhyno lite, but a bit wider and with a machined (rather than brushed) brake track and a welded (rather than pinned) seam. i've been using one on the rear of my xc-trials bike for almost 2.5yrs.
I use oneOptikal

And I find that if I keep the spoke tensions up, then its a very good rim. Its pretty light, and unless you're going HUGE then its probably strong enough.
