| Beginning trials bike | Billy Wilson Dec 12, 2001 6:28 PM | | Yo, I want to start riding trials and have been scouring ebay and mtbr for a good starter level trials bike. I think I finally found one on ebay. Any feedback would be appreciated. The buy it now is $700 which seems pretty cheap. I'll just copy the specs here:
Components:
GT Ruckus 1.0 beefy aluminum frame (the one world champ Hans Rey rides)
Double-Butted Chromoly DD fork
Magura Hydraulic trials back brake w/ braided steel cables and KULE KUMPONENTS brake booster (sweet after market upgrades)
Avid Speed Dial 7 (best lever they make) coupled with Avid IS front brake
Tooth Fairy Ring Guard (1/4" thick)
LX Splined crank w/ BB
XTR Rear derailer (no matter what they say, crisp shifting IS important in trials)
Deore Front Derailer and Shifters
The bike is set up with two rings up front and a moutain (XT) cassette so you can actually get to the place you want to ride. Much better than the granny god/road cassette set up.
Ringle red adonized front hub handbuilt to a Sun Rhyno Lite (XL?) rim with 32 spokes
XT disc rear hub laced to a D521 rim with 32 spokes
Nokian Gazzalodi Dual 2.1 tires (bigger in practice because big rims expand them [measure about the same as the Tioga 2.3 DH])
Syncros bar and Bontrager shorty stem (80 mm 5 degree rise) if preferred buyer could have Tioga Boz DH stem
GT seatpost, WTB Headset, Belle Air seat
Oh yeah, the guy put a picture on it so here's the URL:
