| who rides kujo or tioga2.3 on wide rim(Dx32) plz help | grandma Dec 27, 2001 12:49 PM | | I just got an alex dx 32 rim.
No shop around has a tioga factory DH 2.3 or a kujo 2.35 or even wants to order one of them with the risk I might not buy it 100%.
I am afraid to pay it before they order because my frame might be too narrow.
I would be glad if anyone who rides one of those tires on a wide rim like the DX 32 or a BMF or something of similar width, could you measure the maximum tire width (mm) and height or wheel diameter??? SO I could compare to my actual tire and check if it would fit my frame.
Thanks in advance

| maybe... | Optikal Dec 27, 2001 8:41 PM | | Maybe you could tell us what frame you want to put it on.
We might be able to help with a little educated guessing.... |
| noname kinesis frame | grandma Dec 28, 2001 4:37 AM | | Until I can afford a nice trials specific frame I ride this cheap kinesis frame. I do not have an idea what it is called but I guess noone on these message boards is riding the same one especially with the tire/wheel combo I asked for.
That's the reason I wanted to compare by measurements. |
| noname kinesis frame | DangerousDave Dec 28, 2001 11:31 PM | | well i've ridden my dx32 on my monty stock frame with a kujo 2.35 and a tioga dh 2.3 and i believe when i measured up the tioga it was more like 2.5 and the kujo was prolly bout the same or a bit bigger |
| too big | grandma Dec 29, 2001 4:47 AM | | uh, I think that is too big then :(
Maybe I should look for the 2.25 kujo.
Anyway, thanks alot for your input.

| too big | DangerousDave Dec 30, 2001 10:37 PM | | use a different rim maybe. or try a tioga dh 2.3 front tire cuz they are a bit narrower. but i'd try a 521 if you want a very strong rim that is narrower. like on my norco team trials i can't fit a tioga dh 2.3 with an alex rim but it will fit with a mavic rim and the same tioga tire |
| re: who rides kujo or tioga2.3 on wide rim(Dx32) plz help | Dog Welder Dec 29, 2001 5:54 AM | | I thought I responded to this thread but I guess not. I got a Spec. Rockhooper with a BMF rim running a El Gato...Can't tell you about the tire but with the Alex yer gonna have a problem setting up your brakes properly. I got Sd7 and I had to use the thinnest spacers but the arms still stick out at a 70 degree angle to where my foot sometimes hits the brake arm. If that Kinesis is a xc frame don't bother running a Plaz pad cuz it wouldn't fit. Even with stock Rim wrangler pads they would contact on the edge of teh pad rather than the flat. Filing of the spacers may be required. |
| re: who rides kujo or tioga2.3 on wide rim(Dx32) plz help | Regder Dec 30, 2001 10:40 PM | | the trick is to run no spacers at all to get the brakes working. When locked the brakes are intended to be at, or close to 90 degrees.
If you run zero spacers getting the pads to hit the rim at the right angle might be a problem if your frame is buggered a bit. Check on biketrials.com, Maeder had to do the same thing and shows the difference. |
| brake adjustment | grandma Jan 1, 2002 8:28 AM | | thanks dog.
But I already got the alex rim and am just lacing it.
I have hs33 right now but I am considering buying sd7 or some DX v brakes which are almost for nothing right here. |
