Stem for a stock bike.............(1 post)

Stem for a stock bike.............Shane73

Okay, I decided to just set up my 14" Surly for trials because it will be much cheaper than a new bike (for now). I need a different stem, but I need some input as to which would be best. With my non-corrected Planet X fork I've got a steep head angle and a low front end. My current stem makes it too hard to raise the front end (60mm no rise). I'm looking at the Planet X 3 bolt stems, but I don't know which length or rise would be best. With the low front end I'm thinking a 25 degree rise would be in order but I don't know if I want an 80mm or the longer 105mm. I'm thinking the 105mm would give me more leverage for raising both ends of the bike, but with riser bars I wonder if I should get the 10 deg rise if I opt for the long length stem? I'm also getting brake boosters and a granny bash ring.
