Which is Better? 22lb HT or 23lb FS Bike?joe

I am trying to decide which would be better for general trail riding.

A 22 lb Hard tail or a 23 lb four bar link full suspension?

Should I buy the four bar if it is only $200 more?

Thanks for any info.

Tough to answer in the abstract. Which bikes did you have in mind? What kind of riding do you do?

For general XC trail riding - which would be better to invest in?

IF the FS was 23-24 lbs and only $2-300 more which would you guys get?
Once again(with feeling)...fred³

It would depend on the bike. You have to be more specific. Usually you won't get enough more for $200-$300, but if the HT is costing $2000 then I'd go with the FS.

You have to be more specific. You haven't given us enough information about the specific bikes or your riding style. For example, if the FS bike is flexy and fragile (you aren't looking at a closeout Amp B5 are you) and you are 6' 2" and 225 lbs and like to do 3' to 4' drops, it most likely will not be your best choice. If you are serious, give us a bit more info.
I wouldn't drop any serious $$ on hardtail...CMC

After riding full suspension for a couple years, I wouldn't invest serious money into any hardtail. Maybe a decent beater as a second bike but that's it. Full suspension is easier, faster, and is much less abusive to your kidneys.
