| DB XR8 vs Ventana or Titus | Raoul Sep 1, 2001 11:20 PM | | Early this year bought a Diamond Back XR-8 from Supergo for $1400. Figured I couldn't go wrong at that price for my 1st FS, with a SID SL, XT/XTR, Cane Creek wheels, 27# 3oz with IRC Mythos 2.1's. I enjoy the DB but still lust after a Ventana or Titus, and I'm wondering what if any improvements I would notice for the additional $2k it might cost to upgrade? The components I have now on the DB are pretty much what I would get on a new bike, and the weight isn't grossly different. So, aside from pride of ownership and weld quality type of issues, what would the additional money buy? I should add that I'm a west coast XC rider, mostly epic fireroad loops but some technical singletrack. |

The difference in the handling is night and day--the Titus tracks better, is more maneuverable, and climbs so much better it's unreal. Plus the Titus just has a solid, quality feel that the DB didn't. |
