2002 fuel 100(4 posts)

2002 fuel 100RG
Jan 15, 2002 8:16 AM
I am leaning towards buying a 02 fuel 100. Would like some pros and cons. I have been riding an XCR 1000 for acouple of years now. Although I have not had any problems with this bike, parts are nearly non existent now. Cant find something as simple as a rear der hanger. Would the fuel be as good a choice as a racer x or switchblade as far as cost compared to product. I am an agressive rider, but not the type that goes bombing off 4' LEDGES. JUST LIKE TO RIDE HARD!

Fuel 100=best fs xc bike ever

I have heard nothing but good thing about this bike.

Though someone told me it wasn't good w/ some kinds of downhilling, which I think is a lie, that it just depends on rider skill.

Hope that helps:)

The Fuel is a great bike. I own a 2001 Fuel 98 with a 2002 swingarm (carbon seat and chain stays). I ride it almost every day, in every condition (except snow and ice....I'm in CA).

If you're looking for a great XC bike, this is it!

I had a fuel 90 and just bought a 100. I love this frame. the suspension is stiff in the rear but this prevents any bob at all. This is a race bike, it doesn't respond to small bumps as well as other bikes, That is to keep it stiff. If it makes any sense, it's like a hartail with a suspension for when you need it; exactly what you would wan't in a race bike.
It think that the bikes strong points are speed, energy conservation and climbing. The weak point is the stiff suspension that , but with an air shock you can tweak it any way you would like. As far as it not downhilling well, I think that that is because its light, but this makes it more agile and controlable. You have great control over a bike this light(Mine 24.2 LBS).
