It weighs about 28-29 lbs depending on size, but to me, it's not noticeable. I feel that it climbs better than my 26 lbs hardtail since the suspension soaks up bumps and keeps my bike tracking straight. With choice components, you can easily get the bike to 26 lbs. For me though, I find myself riding faster and blowing through stuff I normally would slowly pick my way through. If that's the case for you, beefing up some of the parts may be in order. It's a really nice bike; read the posts in this forum for more info. Have fun. |

It was too small for me, but I still got a good feel for the bike, and I was very impressed. I did some hard seated sprints and felt no bob whatsoever. When standing it did bob some, but I hardly ever stand when climbing anyway. I think it would be an excellent climber in technical terrain. I rode the Sugar 2+ as well....nice, but not as plush as the Slayer. Great big guy bike! |
| Good climber | FoolCyclist Apr 13, 2002 9:58 PM | | I have had my Slayer for close to a month and it is a good climber for an all-around bike. Mine is a 19 and I would say it weighs about 29-30 lbs. If you want to take down to 26 then I think you are missing the point on this bike. It is a bike that you can ride anywhere and that can still take some abuse. You have to sacrifice some weight in order to have a tough bike. I really don't even notice the weight on mine. But, I am glad that it is tough as nails because when I'm on this bike I just want to blast through rough sections and off of small drops. I don't think that I would ever look at getting the lightest parts for this bike cause I need the security that comes with knowing that the parts are going to hold up. |
| Question For Slayerbob: | Darren Apr 14, 2002 6:52 PM | | How tall are you? If I order the Slayer (which I really want to do, but am leary of the price), I want to make sure I get the right size. I am 6'2'', about 200 lbs. The 18'' is clearly too small for me. |
