HH vs. Racer X(5 posts)

HH vs. Racer XBD

Is there a huge difference in the feel of the HH 100X vs. the Racer X. Is the HH a lot more plush? The handling qualities (climbing, descenting, single track) must be very similar or am I wrong? Just curious. Also, what is the weight difference in the frame?

No, there isn't much difference. The big difference comes from 100 vs 80mm up front. The rears of the bike feel exactly the same. The hammerhead is slightly stiffer with a straight guage downtube and those little plates on the boxed rear (which add very little weight). The weight gain comes from the difference from a butted to straight gauge downtube, which I haven't weighed. The hammerhead is slightly heavier, and slightly stiffer. Conversely with 100 up front I suppose you could call it more plush, but that is only dictated by the extra 20mm up front and fork selection/set-up. IMO it simply comes down to 2 factors.

1. Do you want 100mm up front

2. Does the hammerhead geometry fit you better. (top tubes are different than Racer X's, BB's are just a tad higher.)

3. (this is really minor) does an added ounce or two make that big of a difference.

Does Hammerhead have a web site? Trying to figure out where I can view specs and see this bike.

Thanks, BR

I've been on it. I believe it's hammerheadbikes.com. Try it. If you can't find it, I can send you the specs or list them. I printed them out a while ago.
