good steel hardtail under $1400??scot

Finally decided to sell the joker and go back to a hardtail. I'd like to pick up a good quality steel hardtail with good components for under $1400. Any ideas which one or where to get it? Online would be nice because of my remote location.
'01 Bianchi Grizzly is a great dealretro slouch

I own a 2000 Grizzly and it's a nice bike. Even though it's not the lightest steel frame and I don't ride it much after becoming a fs convert, I don't want to get rid of it. The '01 Grizzly is selling at Supergo for $999 and is speced pretty good. And it's celeste.
I don't think you can buy them online anymore...SJT

Supergo's website says that they are unable to sell the Grizzly mailorder anymore. Really strange, because they have for the past month or so.

To the above poster, where do you live? Do you have a Galyans (www.galyans.com) nearby? I just purchased a '01 Rocky Mountain Blizzard from them for $1200 (last year's bikes closeout sale) and they were very helpful (swapped out parts for me) for a big chain-type of store. They have a few locations around the country so check out their website.

If that doesn't work, I just picked up the April issue of Mountain Bike Rider (a UK magazine) and they reviewed both this year's RM Hammer and Kona Explosif, both steel hardtails. You should be able to find either one of those bikes at any dealer for at most $1400 and most likely cheaper. The Jamis Dakota XC is also a popular inexpensive steel hardtail. I doubt you could go wrong with any of the above. If you want, email me and I'll send you a summary of the reviews on those two bikes.

i have also been in the market recently for a steel hardtail, and although i am looking at a little higher-end bikes, i have to say that one of the best deals i have seen is this jamis; it's 653 TIG-welded steel, spec'd mostly XT, about 25 lbs, for like $1400 or so. check www.jamisbikes.com to see if anyone in your area deals in them (not super likely, which is really the only drawback to practically any jamis bike...)
