What size bike?? Specialized Enduro/Stumpjumper, Giant Nrs (5 posts)
| What size bike?? Specialized Enduro/Stumpjumper, Giant Nrs | James Apr 14, 2002 3:32 AM | | I'm currently living in Korea and am forced to try to get a bike shipped over from the states because of limited selection. I'm looking at Giant NRS, Trek Fuel, Specialized Enduro & Stumpjumper. I am 5'-10" and ride an 18" Trek hardtail now. Does an 18" full suspension frame equal my 18" Trek even though the FS might be shaped different? Also if listed as sm/med/lg, what size would I need? |

Really puzzled me at the time when I demoed both sizes seeing as how I was coming off a Large Joshua and was looking at an XL Sugar.
Big thing for me was the stand over height, and the Large NRS was just too tall. On the other hand, the medium provides plenty of cockpit with the 135mm stem I've got on there now, although I may go shorter and lower.

I tried a medium (18.5") and although the clearance was good at 4-5" I felt crowded, too upright and had the feeling of leaning over the handlebar. I compromised and bought the large (20.5") and even though the top tube clearance is on the short side at 3", my reach is just about right on with good arm extension. The stand over height of the bike from the ground to the top tube by the front of the seat is 31.5". |

| Look at top tube length | andym Apr 15, 2002 9:40 AM | | Top tube length is the most important thing to look at. I am about 5'11" and I fit on about 23" or 24" TTLength bikes. |
