| Sizing on Sugar1? For all you sugar riders out there :) | djbiker69 Apr 16, 2002 8:40 AM | | Hi there, I'm about to buy a 2002 Sugar 1 and I'm VERY excited. The problem is that I still don't know what size to get. I know this is hard to tell if you don't know me, but if you ride a sugar and let me know your size and height, it might help me :)
I am 6'1" with fairly long legs, 35" inseam @ 165lbs. I rode a Large Giant NRS1 frame with no problems. I want to keep the size of my bike on the smaller side so it would be more nimble in the single track. Do you guys recommend a Large or XLarge? |

I was told i could go either medium or large...and i prefer the large b/c i like the feel of a longer top tube, etc. Granted you're a little taller, but I think Large is right on for you. Also, with the Genesis geometry, the large Fisher will have a longer top tube than most other brands "large" frames (including Giant)...you'd probably feel a lot less maneuverable and nimble on the XL.
I'm still deciding between the Fuel 100, and the Sugar 1 (also considering a Superlight or Truth). What made you decide on the Sugar? |

The difference in price (for me) between the Sugar and the Fuel was only $183. For that difference I got: -Full XTR (instead of the crappy bontrager cranks) -Better Saddle (really bad reviews on the bontrager saddle too!) -Much better fork (Sid Race fork is loaded with problems-check reviews) -Genesis geometry I also like the color better ;) I always heard great things about the superlight and truth, but have never ridden them. I don't know if you have considered the Giant XTC NRS Air, but that would be the bike I would get if my shop sold those. I rode the NRS1 last year and LOVED it. Hope this helps! |

It's an awesome ride and I'm extremely pleased with it (except for the fact that it does not have rear disk mounts). I've had it for 1.5 years and I've upgraded most everything on it. Bontrager crap will be off this week when I get my new Race Face cranks! Yippee!
Anyway, I'm 5'8", 31" inseam (yes all legs!) and also 165 lbs. I ride a large frame. I prefer the feel of a larger ride. Easier on the climbs for me. The medium is what most people my size should ride. I would say the Large is your size. At my LBS, they have a short trail to ride to see which bike feels best. That's the best to see which one you like better.
Hope this helps and welcome to the GF family! |
