Hammerhead Owner's Group?(32 posts)

Hammerhead Owner's Group?TechniKal

We've got MCMs, we've got NADS... Should we have Hammerhead owners club as well? What do you think? We could steal from Harely and call it the HOGS. Charles could be 'Boss HOG'...

Oh - bike content. Got a nice ride on the new HH last night with Charles. Even managed to get my first crash in... The bike is sweet, sweet, sweet....

I presented this idea to Charles back in January. He definitely is the Grand Poo-Bah, HOGS #1

I nominate you as the official number giver-outer & HOGS #2.
Will someone second my nomination as president of the local New Jersey & Vermont chapters of HOGS?

Squeak (HOGS#3)
I Second that motion...TechniKal

I also nominate you and Metroid as the official 'Fred Flamers'. I'll be Sargent of Arms, responsible for keeping the picture of Charles safe and secure.

BTW: We should push Charles to hurry up and get some jerseys made. I hear rumor he's sitting on a really cool design for one...

...this HH user group idea! It's not much different than a car club like Corvette. I was the chief mover in the Magura Cult and it has brought me friends and aquaintances from around the world. Many of the members know and ride with each other - all through the cult.

It's not unusual for me to get mail from members from Sweden to Sydney and Vienna to Vancouver all on the same day. Heck the Finnish chapter of the Cult (about 27 strong) even have their own 24hr team.

The Cult site is now done in three languages too. Try hard for webspace with pics of your bikes.

Get some kind of newsletter thing going and above all make it tongue-in-cheek and have fun. Try for a HH Gathering someplace.

Good luck from the world famous and original bike cult.

Thanks. At a minimum, something like this would provide folks that are interested in seeing a HH in person a list of possible owners in their area.
How about HHFHHA

Hammer Head Freds.

You guys kill me on this board about this Hammer Head 100x. I bet you have a picture of Charles on your night stand so you can praise him for doing such a wonderful thing by bringing you a heavier Racer X with too much travel. Its about the Engine baby not the bike. Flame away baby !:}

Nightstand? No, I keep one picture of Charles in my wallet and another at my desk at work. That way I can look at it whenever I want.
In the 5 months since I've owned the bike I've ridden it at least twice and my "Engine" is almost ready. I'm preparing to take off the training wheels on my bike with "too much travel."

Curse you Charles Coker, for providing us with an upgraded version of an already excellent product.

Fred, uh I mean, Squeak (HOGS #3)
You're just jealous...Metroid
Apr 16, 2002 10:33 AM
that you ride a Huffy (it's the engine, right?). And yes, the extra 0.15" of travel that the Hammerhead (3.8") has over the stock Racer-X (3.65") is waaaay to much for me to handle.

Life's a journey, not a destination and I'm enjoying the ride. You should do the same.

BTW, I'll take HOGS #100.
You're just lonely (and pathetic)...HHA
Apr 16, 2002 10:50 AM
To sit around a ruminate and expound on the technical merits of a speciffic bicycle and how much you "love" it and how much "pleasure" it gives you just to "have" it. You guys are a bunch of poser collectors not cyclist!
Sorry but I'm happily married...Metroid
Apr 16, 2002 11:06 AM
and my bike gets well used a couple times a week.

Techno geek, yes. Poser collector, no.

Speaking of pathetic, anonymous flame baiting is the pastime of choice for cretins.

Easy there. No, I don't own a Hammerhead... but if someone has an extra one about medium size I'll be glad to "store" it in my garage.
I am pathetic and a poser.NCBiker

If anyone starts a group of pathetic collector posers let me know. And if they all happen to ride the same kind of bike, more better.
How about HHPPTT?? Posers Unite!!KRob

Hammerhead Pathetic Posers with Too much Travel. OOh, OOh, I want to be a poser too. Too funny. Now I'm even more pleased with my purchase, to find that I've aligned myself with a group of Mtbers that can laught at themselves and enjoy good machinery.

We DO go on and on a little. I wondered how long it would take for someone to get sick of it. It IS just a bike, after all......A REALLY GREAT BIKE!!!
he he.

Oh, btw, if it is to be HOG. what does that anachronym stand for? (Hammerheads of Gotham? Harry Oscar Griswald? How Outrageously Good? Hovering Over Goo?) Did I miss that meeting where they gave out the secret code?

I'll take #8.
8 it is...TechniKal

HOG - Hammerhead Owner's Group. We can still change that, though. Post your ideas for what you want it to be...

I'll keep a spreadsheet of aliases, numbers and "join" date. We can add real names, email, location, bike size and set up, etc, as I get more time. I'll also see about setting up a website somewhere.

Can I have #7?nyrider

My son turned 7 while I was playing the waiting game for the HH.

Your my son, so I have to love you, but the bottom line is Charles is a very handsome man. Your father was quite preturbed when he found my picture of Charles.

sorry.
How about HHF??KRob
Apr 16, 2002 6:44 PM
Actually, I like that. Hammerhead Freds. Hogs is a little too cliche and over-worked. Besides, what better way to show our unwillingness to take ourselves seriously, and to display our self-depricating style than to adopt a name as our own wich was intended as a diss.

Hey, what about little Charles action figurines that we could zip-tie to our handlebars as mojos?
yeah alll this HHX talk is killing me *NM*andym

I freely admit it.

I know Metroid is as well. So stop fronting.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to handle this bike with too much travel after a lifetime of hardtails. What was I thinking? I hope my engine can handle it.

God I'll be looking so tender in the parking lot of my local rides. People will think I'm an mtb God.....not that they don't already.

If we're taking #'s I want #23 for sentimentel reasons ;)
Gotcha...TechniKal
Apr 16, 2002 2:12 PM
23 it shall be.

Question about your handle. Does the Yankeeheel and the #23 tribute indicate you're a northerner that moved south and attended UNC or something similar? I was born and rasied in the Carolinas (went to WFU), but transplanted my southern butt to Texas a few years ago...
Don Mattingly?The Squeaky Wheel

Good pickup Kal. If I'm not mistaken, Yankee #23 belongs to Don Mattingly.

I doubt it! #23 for UNC was Jordan (nm)Sultan of Singletrack

Dude,

Don't harsh on the Heels. At least the guys that transfered were deadwood.

To answer Technikal's question,
Born in NY. Moved to NC to join the great northern conspiracy to ruin it. Fan of UNC since 82 national championship. Wife went to grad school there. Currently reside in Derm.(Durham)

I'm a Met fan anyway. Forget Mattingly.

Too bad. You sounded promising.
I'd ripe on the Tarheels too, but my Michigan Wolverines aren't exactly tearing it up lately.
