| Buying a bike from Colorado Cyclist | DY Jul 29, 2002 6:11 PM | | I'm considering getting a Superlight with a Sid SL and XTR package built by Colorado Cyclist. Can anyone out there give me their experience working with them on such a project? |
| they were good to me! | Steve-O Jul 30, 2002 6:12 AM | | Back in '98 or '99 I bought a Litespeed hardtail fully built up from them. They were great over the phone! I went through the entire parts spec and they even pointed out a few things that I didn't think about at the time (stem rise and crank arm length).
I couldn't complain about the build or the packaging when the bike arrived a week later. Overall a positive experience! |
| Thumbs up | kristian Jul 30, 2002 7:08 AM | | They are my local bike shop so I haven't used their mail order since I was in college but they were great to deal with then (and are great to deal with in their retail store). One nice thing about ordering from them is that they try to stock every color they list in their catalog so they won't have to order the bike from SC, have it delivered, build it up, and then ship it to you. Their wheels are first class too.
Just an FYI, if you want a green ano, make sure that you specify that you would like an 02 frame. I know they have some green ano 01's in stock, but the first production run of ano green 02's ships from SC today (I know because my wife's bike is one of them). The Cyclist didn't list green in their last catalog so they might not be stocking them anyway.
Another good option for Superlights is Speedgoat.com. I ordered my wife's bike through them because they stock more of the parts I wanted to use (Hope Minis, Fox Vanilla, Wylder bars). Their "mail order service" is more personal than you will get at the Cyclist and their prices are a little better too (plus free shipping). I also ordered my Bullit from them--they are first rate to deal with. |
