Thinking about buying the NRS frame .. any input?zman

I was trying to save for a Tracer or a Switchblade (frames). But its to expensive. So I might buy the NRS frame and put my old parts from my other bike onto it. What do you think about the NRS frame?
Comments appreciated.
Dealer selling it for $1000.00. I know I can get it cheaper on the internet but I want the mechanical support of the local dealer. They'll set it up by transfering my other components. And if any probs I can go to them.
$1,000.00??????Flyer

That's awfully expensive. I can't help but think you would save money buying it somewhere else and paying the guy to put it together. I think you would have money left over. A brand new NRS 3 is $1,100.00 dollars, and the frame is pretty much the same for it, the 2, the 1, and the AIR except for paint color.

Anyway, I have an NRS AIR, and I love the bike. If you are looking for a "freeride" or "downhill" bike, this probably would not be a good choice. However, if you are looking for a XC bike and not concerned about having a "cushy" ride, the NRS is perfect. It does take a bit of experimentation with the rear shock to get it set right, but once it is, there is literally no bob on a climb, and it is responsive to bumps, etc. It is not as soft a ride as something like a Specialized, but perhaps that is the tradeoff for no bobing while sprinting or climbing. It is very much like riding a hardtail in that respect.

I have found that the general opinion about the NRS is you either love it to death, or can't stand it. There doesn't seem to be much in between. I would advise that you try and find one of them already assembled, get the front and rear set up for your weight and give it a ride before you commit.
I just sold my NRS AIR frame including rear SID XC for $475.chipa66

It was in absolutely pristine condition and was only a few months old. Look around in MTBR classifieds. You'll save LOTS of money.

I've been riding an NRS for two years and I love the bike. The ride is not plush, just enough to take the impact out of big hits. The bike's strength is in its climbing ability. If you set the rear shock up as Giant specifies you will get zero bob no matter how hard you mash. It is not a freeride bike! If you are looking for a more race oriented bike the NRS is perfect. 1000$ is too much though, look around. I've seen new frames selling for 695$
