Buy a used Klein Mantra (excellent condition) now or should I wait for the 2003 models coming out in a couple of months. Thinking about the Trek Liquid Fuel. Had been debating over a Giant AC series or other type of trailbike. (had considered Ellsworth Joker and Bullit but no demos available) I took the Mantra for a ride (just pavement)Know another guy who has one. The other guy likes it for climbing but has had several endos while going down. Other reviewers also mention the "catapult effect" due to the high pivot/shock relationship. I could grab the Klein for less than a thousand (base model) but my gut tells me I would be better off putting that thousand into a newer model. What do you think? I'm assuming the Liquid Fuel will be similar to the current Fuel series but with a stronger/heavier build. I saw the prototype in one of the bike magazines but no real news about it yet. Thanks a lot for your help.

I rode a Mantra for several years, and while it can do amazing things in tight singletrack, it takes A LONG time to learn how to ride properly. The Mantra was one of the best executions of the URT concept but there are better bikes available. The Adept handles just as well in singletrack (I ride one now) and doesn't have the *unique* suspension action of the Mantra.

Your money is far better spent on anything that isn't a Mantra.
