| What's the bike I need for free ride/cross country | djfrankn Nov 22, 2002 8:07 PM | | Hi, I'm gonna buy a new bike next month and I want some advice about what could be the best bike for me. I do free ride and cross country so I would need one that would be for between. If someboy can provide the brand and the model would be great. Thanx.
P.D: I forgot to mention that I have 1500 to spend. |
| giant VT? | dirt Nov 22, 2002 9:36 PM | | Id look at the giant vt2... I dont think that they are available yet but the vt's look like really good bikes and maybe what you are looking for. |

I am sure the vt 1 will be a good bike but let them get the bugs out of the new rear geometry first. Yhe Kona dawg is the same bike as the bear just a name change for legal purposes. Its a good base line set-up with shimano hydralics,LX components ,Fox float r rear,Marzocchi exr air,and one tough frame without too much weight. I will upgrade as parts wear out,but stock is cool enough. Check it out at http://www.konaworld.com/2k3/2k3bikes.cfm You cant loose by test riding one. |
| One that fits | gurp Nov 23, 2002 9:27 AM | | Check out bikes from Kona, Rocky Mountain, Specialized, and Giant, go with whatever fits best. FYI, if your idea of freeride includes drops to flat and 5'+ drops to anything on a consistent basis, $1500 probably wont cut it unless you get a hardtail. |
