| Online Bike Builder update... | Hilltop Ski & Bike Nov 25, 2002 8:44 AM | | Hi folks,
It's me again, the webmaster of Hilltop Ski and Bike giving an update on the online bike builder on the website. You guys had some great suggestions and I am going to try to address them here....
1. Required fields (ie frame, email). I made the email field required, but the guys chose not to make components necessary. Why? Well, what if you are buying a new frame and SOME new components... in other words, you have some stuff laying around to use. They will check every build and price it accordingly AND point out the components left out, in case it was unintentional. They feel they can take that sort of one on one approach with every request.
2. Phone number field has been added. If you want a call from them, input your phone number and point out a time in the comments box for when to call. They will call.
3. Individual email addresses for the sales guys. This is a quandry. The advantage of having a central email address is so that they can check the mails from home as well. They realize that doing things on a 9-5 basis during the weekdays just does not cut it, so they take the time to return quote requests at home as well. They will give you a separate email address if there is a problem with the email address and/or servers. They apologize to the one fella they were having problems with and would welcome him to email again or input a phone number for a call.
4. Indicative pricing. Although I feel they addressed that well by telling you that different builds require different price points.. they also recognize that indicative pricing would be a good thing as well. I think the best way around this maybe to put prices on there for various levels of builds as examples. Maybe put on worst case scenario type figures that they will never go over. To give the best price, they choose to deal one on one with the consumer as opposed to spitting out a price that they themselves can beat. Any suggestions on what you would like to see for indicative pricing would be welcome.
Thanks for the first round of suggestions, and we hope more of you guys check it out. We feel that for the next best thing to going to a local bike shop, give it a try. The service is very personal and one on one. Like someone else said, without a demo and service, the only thing left is price... and they feel that they can compete with ANYONE on that avenue.
The link to the builder is on the front page...

anyone trying to use sales@hilltopskibike.net may have problems reaching the sales guys. The mail server that houses this address seems to not like that address. I created a new box for you guys looking to get through to them.. bikes@hilltopskibike.net
That also means that if anyone submitted a build in the last 8 hours or so didn't get through to them. Please remit another if that is the case.
One last thing.. I am going to put a phone number field in there, but for the time being, use the comments box to give them your phone number. They read it as you typed it in.
Thanks alot
